The Power of Intention

Thoughts are energy and can affect your mind, body and environment...

Week 3

I have been researching the science of the mind for a few years now and have been amazed at the discoveries in new biology and quantum physics that demonstrate the mind's power and potential.

Our thoughts, intentions, or inherent beliefs have the ability to affect not only our emotional states but also the health of our body and our environment.  Did you know that our emotional state affects our body and environment every second of every day, often without us ever realising it?

For example, If you think someone is ignoring you and that makes you feel upset, something they said or did or didn't do (often unbeknown to them) will have triggered a thought like 'I don't matter to them' which may be associated to memories of being young and parents, friends or teachers not having paid you attention.  And it's often the case that your inherent belief that people ignore you makes you behave in a such a way that the people in your life unconsciously respond by proving you to be right.  On top of that your constant disappointment causes your body to be stressed and illness to manifest.

The good news is that if you have subconscious beliefs that negatively manifest in your life, you can do something about it.  For the most part, your beliefs form in childhood when you are too young to be aware of them and to decide if there are of use to you.  When you are an adult, you can learn how to recognise your beliefs and update any that no longer serve you.   Visualisation is a great way of doing this because it accesses your subconscious mind where the beliefs are stored (you could also use Hypnotherapy, EFT, other complementary therapies or whatever feels right for you).

Mind affecting body

In cell biology, intentions or beliefs have even been shown to alter our genes - switching on and off certain genes depending on the subconscious programming of each individual.  According to Bruce Lipton Ph.D “to fully thrive, we must not only eliminate the stressors but also seek joyful, loving, fulfilling lives that stimulate growth processes.” (Biology of Belief).

So, a basic formula for health could be to make sure our thoughts, emotions and beliefs are based on love and appreciation, and that we eliminate or dramatically reduce our experience of stress in our lives.

Mind affecting environment

If your mind can affect your own body's emotional state and state of health as well as how others respond to you (as in the example above) what else is it capable of doing?  There have been numerous scientific studies into this, including a study into the growth rate of plants that showed how those that were sent healing and loving thoughts, grew quicker than those that did not.  There have also been studies that show electrical responses in the brains of people who were being sent thoughts from people in another room! (There are so many fascinating studies like this and a great source for learning more about them is David Hamilton's book 'It's the thought that counts').

The power of the group mind

Our thoughts as energy, travel to where we intend them to go and have some kind of effect, however small.  They also go where we do not realise we are sending them, due to our subconscious beliefs (have you ever your mood ever changed because of someone positive or negative?)

Imagine if a large group of people got together with the same intention?  The effect of that intention would be magnified just as the voices of a choir would carry more than the voice of one person.  This effect of group consciousness has been shown in several peace events throughout the world where the crime statistics have lowered after the event.

Put your power to use

If you want to learn more about how to direct your intentions where you want them to go to then please sign up as a follower of my blog (click the 'follow' button on the top right sidebar) to find out more about my forthcoming live monthly show.  You can also follow me on Facebook or Twitter ('follow me buttons on the sidebar).  The more people that come together at the same time, the more powerful our intentions will be.

So, whether you want to improve your emotional and physical state, your relationships with others, your local community or even the entire planet, please consider being a part of Picture Peace UK.  It's all free and even if it only benefits you in a small way, giving you a bit more relaxation and peace of mind than you currently have - isn't it worth a try?

Next week's blog...

I will be discussing why I have chosen to do this project for the UK and why I feel it is really relevant at this time of economic struggle and disillusionment.  I will also be discussing what other projects are already going on around the UK and the rest of the world.
